“Rīgas satiksme” has started a procurement procedure for the supply of electric buses
“Rīgas satiksme” has announced a procurement procedure for electric buses, the aim of which is to determine a supplier, who will produce and supply 35 electric buses, as well as their spare parts on the most technically and economically advantageous terms. The procurement documentation makes provisions for the possibility to make an additional order for the supply of another 17 electric buses and their spare parts. To purchase the electric buses it is planned to attract co-financing from the European Union Cohesion Fund. The documentation is available on the website www.rigassatiksme.lv, in the section “Procurements and auctions” and the electrical procurement system. Tenders for the 1st round of the procurement procedure must be submitted by 15.00 on 21 October 2021.
The total sum of procurement amount, making provisions for the purchase of 35 electric buses and their spare parts, as well as the purchase of an additional 17 electric buses and their spare parts, is planned to be 34,320,000.00 EUR without VAT. The total term of the contract is 5 years, excluding the expected warranty periods.
Andris Lubāns, Member of the Board of “Rīgas Satiksme” explains: “We hope that a wide range of bidders will apply for this procurement to be able to choose the best and the most economically advantageous offer. The chosen procurement method will take place in two stages. In the first stage - the selection of participants will take place, while in the second stage, the selected candidates will be invited to submit their tenders, the tenders will be evaluated and the contract will be awarded.”

During the next five to seven years “Rīgas satiksme” will have to change at least 255 - 260 buses with diesel engines. They are already outdated and at least part of them will have to be changed to electric transport, as the green components become mandatory in public transport use from 2024 onwards.
